SURREY, BC – The Wubs Foundation (“the Foundation”) is proud to announce its new
partnership with the Surrey Schools (School District No. 36) to launch the Bright Futures
Foundation: Empowering Schools, Enriching Lives. This initiative will provide essential financial
support to schools in Surrey and White Rock, focusing on creating innovative programs that
foster academic excellence while promoting students’ personal development and well-being.

The funds provided by the Wubs Foundation will enable schools to organize educational field
trips, exposing students to real-world experiences that complement their classroom learning.
These excursions will broaden students’ horizons, encourage curiosity, and provide valuable
hands-on learning opportunities.

“On behalf of the entire board, I am delighted to announce the launch of our new program
designed to empower children in Surrey,” said Sheilagh Wubs, a member of the Wubs
Foundation Board. “This initiative underscores our unwavering commitment to supporting
children in need and providing them with the resources necessary to thrive.”

Deb Wubs, a member of the Wubs Foundation Board, commented on the new partnership:
“We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to succeed. We are excited to
collaborate with these schools and the community to make a lasting impact on the lives of
children in Surrey.”

Recognizing the importance of meeting students’ basic needs, a portion of the funds will be
allocated to emergency support. This includes providing essential resources such as food,
clothing, school supplies, transportation, and covering school fees. By addressing these
fundamental needs, they aim to create a supportive environment where students can thrive
academically and personally.

“Since 2019, the collaboration between Surrey Schools and The Wubs Foundation has been
transformative for each school they support. Their generous commitment has provided
essential school-based and emergency funds, enabling schools to meet urgent student needs
and enhance school facilities with basketball courts, sensory rooms, field trips, library spaces,
and more. Like the school district, the Wubs Foundation puts students and education first,
aligning with our mission to support and enrich the lives of our students. Without their
generosity, many of these vital programs and initiatives would not have been possible,” said
Vanessa Seco, Manager of Major Gifts and Endowments at Surrey Schools.

The Wubs Foundation’s commitment to supporting underfunded schools in Surrey reflects their
dedication to fostering educational excellence and ensuring equal opportunities for all
students. Through this partnership, they are making a tangible difference in the lives of
countless students, helping them reach their full potential.
